Zainab Ahmed Early Life

Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed was born on June 16, 1961, in Kaduna, Nigeria. She is a Nigerian accountant and politician who is the current Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning. She was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on November 11, 2015.

Ahmed began her career as an accountant with the Kaduna State Ministry of Finance in 1985. She later worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. In 2006, she was appointed as the Executive Director of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).

As the Executive Director of NEITI, Ahmed was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Nigeria. The EITI is a global initiative that promotes transparency and accountability in the oil, gas and mining sectors.

Under Ahmed’s leadership, NEITI became one of the most respected EITI implementing countries in the world. She also played a key role in the development of the Nigerian Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), which is a comprehensive reform bill for the oil and gas sector.

In 2015, Ahmed was appointed as the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning. As Minister, she is responsible for overseeing the country’s finances and developing its economic policies.
