UNICAL Cut Off Mark for 2023/2024 Academic Season

UNICAL Cut Off Mark for 2023/2024

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced its cut-off mark for the 2023/2024 academic session. The cut-off mark is the minimum score that candidates must obtain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible to apply for admission into the university.

The JAMB cut-off mark for UNICAL in 2023/2024 is 140. This means that candidates who score 140 and above in the UTME are eligible to apply for admission into any course of their choice in UNICAL.

However, it is important to note that the JAMB cut-off mark is just a minimum requirement. Individual departments in UNICAL may have their own cut-off marks, which are usually higher than the JAMB cut-off mark. This is because some departments are more competitive than others.

Candidates who are interested in applying for admission into UNICAL should therefore consult the university’s website to check the departmental cut-off marks for their chosen course of study.

Here are some of the most competitive courses in UNICAL and their departmental cut-off marks for the 2022/2023 academic session:

  • Medicine and Surgery – 210
  • Law – 200
  • Pharmacy – 190
  • Nursing – 180
  • Accounting – 170
  • Computer Science – 160
  • Engineering – 160
  • Business Administration – 155
  • Mass Communication – 150

Candidates who score below the departmental cut-off mark for their chosen course of study may still be considered for admission into other courses in the university, but this will depend on the availability of spaces and the candidate’s overall performance in the UTME.

In addition to the JAMB and departmental cut-off marks, candidates who wish to apply for admission into UNICAL must also meet the following general requirements:

  • They must have five (5) O’Level credits in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English Language, in no more than two (2) sittings.
  • They must be at least 16 years old.
  • They must have completed secondary school education and possess the necessary certificates.

Candidates who meet all of the above requirements are advised to register for the UNICAL Post-UTME screening exercise. The Post-UTME screening exercise is a competitive examination that is used to select the best candidates for admission into the university.
