Poco X2 Users Face Issues While Binding To Their Mi Account

Poco F1 users were waiting for the next Pocophone for quite a long time. However, Poco was introduced as an independent brand and soon after this announcement, Poco teased that there will be indeed a new phone from the company and soon the Poco X2 was launched. The devices although it does not feature top of the line processor, brings in a 120Hz refresh rate display, a dual front selfie camera, along with the Snapdragon 730G processor with a massive 4500 mAh battery under the hood. The Poco X2 came with Android 10 out of the box.

Moreover, Poco has also officially confirmed that Poco X2 will indeed be served with the Android 11 update. However, in a recent development, users are facing a weird issue with the device. According to user reports in XDA, they are unable to bind their Mi account and are getting the error “Couldn’t add. Error code:86023”. Binding the Mi account is the initial step in order to use the Mi unlock tool and install any custom ROM. But there are several users reports claiming the same issue on their Poco X2.

In order to unlock the device using the Mi Unlock Tool, the device need to be bind to the Mi Account in order to get the permission and to successfully unlock the device, this has been the usual protocol in all other Xiaomi phones.
As far as we know, Redmi K30 4G (phoenix) unlocks well, but Poco X2 (pheonixin) cannot be unlocked as of now because of the error.
Steps to reproduce:
1.Go to Settings -> About Phone and tap the MIUI version multiple times to unlock Developer Options.
2. Go to Settings -> Additional Settings -> Developer Options -> Mi Unlock Status
3. Here you can see an option at the bottom to Add account and device, if you tap it, you’ll meet an error which says: “Couldn’t add. Error code:86023”
Device cannot be unlocked until the account and device gets binded.

However, going by this post, one user has commented on a fix for this issue where you need to create a new Mi account using a new phone number and not using the email. Besides, you need to do all this on your phone and not on a web browser. Users can give this fix a shot but none of the users were able to get through the issue with this fix. Poco is yet to comment or acknowledge this issue and users are awaiting a fix for this issue which has caused problems in binding the Mi account.
