IPad demand increases for coronavirus

iPad Pro

It seems a contradiction when we are all seeing news about the drop in sales of Apple products and their forecasts for these months. But in the case of the iPad being a very interesting device to perform work from home It causes demand to be triggered in China as some media explain.

The Covid-19 is causing real problems to move or even leave home, so The demand for iPads in China is increasing. The needs of working from home or studying from anywhere are increasing the demand for this device, but production is affected by the shortage of raw materials, components and labor.

The production of the iPad in China is divided between two companies, one of them is Compal, which manufactures the most simple range models and the other is the well-known Foxconn, which mainly manufactures the most professional range of the iPad, the iPad Pro. In this case, the demand for the product is being high in the new market as the second-hand market and it is precisely in the market for second-hand iPads where the most demand is being noticed in China, which makes prices go up a bit. Sales platforms outside Apple would be increasing the price between 100 and 200 CNY.

On the other hand, Digitimes estimates that both Compal and Foxconn are operating around 30% of their capacity and this means that production outside of China remains paramount these days. AirPods, iPad and Apple Watch production have moved from China to Taiwan, and Foxconn says it has begun work to expand its production plants outside of China.
