According to analyst Daniel Ives, it will take at least a month for Apple suppliers in China to return to their full production capacity, causing serious delays not only for the launch of the iPhone 9, but also for the iPhones expected in late September.
As reported from Bloomberg, the full production of the main Apple partners in China will resume only in a month, if not even in mid-April. The problems resulting from the coronavirus could therefore do delay the production of the iPhone 9 (or iPhone SE 2) that Apple was due to present in March. Furthermore, according to Ives, theiPhone 12 it could be launched late: presentation in late September, availability late October if not November.
The problem is that Apple is making it big changes to the iPhone 12, given that it will be the company’s first 5G devices. Even the design should change significantly compared to the past and all this, already on its own, would have caused some small slowdown in production. Let’s also add the coronavirus, and that’s why according to the Wedbush analyst, the new iPhones could arrive extremely late.
As for the iPhone 9, the presentation is scheduled for March 31, with launch that will probably be delayed by a month compared to the scheduled roadmap. It is therefore probable that the new economic iPhone will be launched only in May.
